Techniques

Presidio Sport & Medicine is dedicated to providing the highest quality, customized, one-on-one care possible.  In order to deliver comprehensive care, our therapists are trained in specialized techniques that will enable you to restore function effectively, and reach a higher level of peak performance.  We hope you find our Technique Videos useful in understanding how they can help you reach your health and wellness goals.

Graston Technique®
We have found a great benefit in using the Graston Technique® for soft tissue mobilization that enables us to effectively break down scar tissue and fascial restrictions. The technique utilizes specially designed stainless steel instruments to specifically detect and treat these restricted areas.   It is thought to decrease overall time of treatment, promote faster recovery, reduce the need for anti-inflammatory medication and resolve chronic conditions thought to be permanent. To see this technique in action, view here >>

Video Gait Analysis
We have found many benefits with using video gait analysis.  It allows us to thoroughly assess a body in motion in order to better tailor a specific program to meet a client’s fitness needs.  The analysis includes a comprehensive physical exam assessing medical and injury history, flexibility, strength, and lower extremity biomechanics. To see this technique in action, view here >>

Active Release Techniques®
Active Release Techniques® (ART) is a highly effective soft tissue technique that allows a practitioner to detect and treat soft tissue problems, including all muscles and joints in the body.  Generally patients see positive results at their first treatment and experience a decrease in pain and increase in function within the first three sessions.  We have successfully used ART on a range of injuries including those that plague our athletic population and those with repetitive stress injuries brought on by working for hours at the computer. Kinesio Taping
Kinesio or Rock Tape is used for treating and assisting injured athletes back to a higher level of function. These taping techniques are commonly seen on tennis player shoulders, soccer player knees, and runner’s calves.   Benefits of taping include providing structural support to injured muscles without restricting range of motion, pain relief, accelerating healing through increased local blood flow, restoring normal muscle activation, and reduction in swelling. AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill®
The AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill® is an innovative training and rehabilitation tool.  Its enclosed chamber uses air pressure to unweight you in precise increments between 20% – 100% of your body weight.  Benefits of the AlterG® include running longer and faster with less impact on muscles and joints, improving stride length and leg turnover, optimizing rehabilitation after surgery, improving neuromuscular function and balance, and many more.
